Candidatura Romaniei pentru
"EXTREME LIGHT INFRASTRUCTURE"

Extreme Light Infrastructure
in the European and International context

ELI- Preparatory Phase

ELI collaboration is financed for the period 2008-2010 to perform preliminary studies through the FP7 project for Research Infrastructures (http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/capacities/research-infrastructures_en.html) named Extreme Light Infrastructure - Preparatory Phase (ELI-PP) (http://www.extreme-light-infrastructure.eu/).
The EU funding reaches more than 5 million Euro for this period. The Preparatory Phase of the Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI) will address all the critical aspects related to the construction of ELI.
Through the Support action, which is the central part of this project, most of the questions about organization, strategic, legal, finance and safety issues will be worked out. Technical, networking and management issues will also be addressed. The ready-to-build design of ELI should be achieved by the end of the ELI-PP.

Candidatura Romaniei

Romania is one of the five EU countries that have submitted an offer to host the whole ELI project. The proposed site for ELI is Magurele - the Romanian pole of Physics. The main institutions interested to participate in the construction and exploitation of ELI at Magurele are: the National R&D institutes for Lasers, Plasma and Radiation Physics, Nuclear Physics and Engineering, Physics of Materials, Optoelectronics, the Faculty of Physics - Bucharest University, and the Faculty for Applied Sciences - University Politehnica of Bucharest. The consortium is coordinated by the Institute of Atomic Physics which represents also the National Authority for Scientific Research in the ELI-PP project. [ mai mult ]
